Extraordinary Stories =
Extraordinary Books

We believe every life story is unique - making it extraordinary - and deserving of a book. We specialize in creating compelling books, including 'mini memoirs,' full-length autobiographies, and corporate histories.

Mini Memoirs

With our ‘mini memoirs,' we bring together personal stories and photographs in a beautiful hardcover book. A 'mini memoir' captures the key moments of a life. It is a keepsake that can be treasured for generations.  It is an eloquent and meaningful way to:

  • preserve a parent's or grandparent's memories and advice

  • celebrate family traditions and occasions

  • pay tribute to a departed loved one through stories shared by others

  • commemorate a precious experience like a vacation or wedding.

The Process

After you reserve a ‘mini memoir’ slot, we have a brief conversation with you to discuss who the book will be about, topics we should focus on, and any special considerations when creating the book.

We’ll schedule times to conduct interviews. We suggest doing one hour per week. Interviews can be done by phone or video call. If the person being interviewed is in the Lower Mainland, we might be able to arrange to meet in person.

We then transcribe each interview. Each session is built upon what we’ve already learned, so we can flesh out the details that make the narrative richer, and explore new subjects that may have emerged through conversation.

During the interview process, we ask you to collect images that can be included in the book. If you have only hard copies of old photographs, we ask that you arrange to have them scanned to digital format - or we can do the scanning for a small fee.

Once the interviews are done and images are gathered, we will transform them into a collection of stories and design the book. You (and/or the interviewee) will be asked to review it and request any changes.

After everything is approved, we get the book printed and have it delivered to you!

What You Get

  • A digital card that you can share with a loved one if you’ve purchased the ‘mini memoir’ as a gift.

  • A beautifully designed hardcover book that incorporates narrative and photographs.

  • A digital copy (PDF) of the book.

  • Audio recordings and transcripts of the interviews.

What it Costs

We price by project scope. For example, a keepsake book featuring a vacation might have lots of photos and require little in the way of interviews. A book with stories from multiple family members might require extra time - that  will be reflected in the final price. In general, you can expect to pay anywhere from $1500 to $5000 CDN plus GST.

As a guideline, our Standard Package is $3500 CDN. You get a beautifully designed and printed book that:

  • Is 60 – 80 pages long

  • Contains up to 30 photos

  • Is based on 4 – 6 hours of interviews

  • *Extra book copies are $100/book.

Our ‘mini memoir’ packages are payable in three monthly installments reflecting the phases: interviews and transcribing; writing, editing and design; review and printing. You can expect the completed book within 3 – 4 months!

Full-length Autobiographies & Other Nonfiction

Ever been told your life's story is worthy of a book? Have you dreamed about writing a memoir? Maybe you have an idea for a business book or want to demonstrate your professional expertise? Thinking about the idea is nice, but sitting down to write a book can be daunting. It can take a lot of time - often hundreds of hours. With our full-length autobiography and nonfiction service, we take the pain away from the process - and make it enjoyable for you - by acting as your personal ghostwriter. We interview you to hear your stories, and translate them into a compelling narrative, written in your voice.

The Process

We start with an initial meeting to find out what you hope to achieve with your book, and whether we're a good fit for the project. We prepare a proposal outlining the project scope, including the services we'll provide and a payment schedule.

To start the process, we’ll schedule regular interviews with you. We suggest doing one to two hours per week - this keeps it manageable while also helping us to maintain momentum and stick to timelines. Depending on availability, we can also book longer sessions. Interviews can be done by phone or video. If you're in the Lower Mainland, we can arrange to meet in person.

We transcribe each interview. Once the interviews are done, we'll review everything and prepare a book outline for your approval.

We will then draft the chapters, sharing them with you as we go. If we need additional background information to provide narrative context, we'll conduct further research or request more information from you.

While you'll be reviewing the book as it is written, we begin the revision process after the entire first draft is complete. We do up to two rounds of revisions. If you want our help with design, printing, or other aspects, we do that after polishing the manuscript to final version.

What You Get

  • Regularly scheduled interview time (you can expect up from 10 - 20 hours total).

  • Audio recordings and transcripts of the interviews.

  • Book outline.

  • Complete draft of full-length book.

  • Two rounds of revisions based on your feedback.

We can also:

  • Design the book.

  • Coordinate printing.

  • Assist with other aspects of self-publishing, including listing online, book marketing, etc.

What it Costs

As with all our projects, we price by scope and will provide you an estimate, based on your requirements, after our initial meeting. In general, you can expect to pay anywhere from $25,000 to $75,000 CDN for books ranging from 40,000 to 90,000 words (150 to 300 pages)..

Our autobiography and nonfiction ghostwriting services are billed monthly, with one installment paid up front as a deposit. In our experience, writing a 200- to 300-page book can take about nine months

Corporate Histories

Every business has its own personality and culture – and its own extraordinary story. We can work with you and your team to create a corporate history book that is consistent with your company's image and voice. Whether you’re a company leader who wants to mark a major anniversary or project milestone, or a business founder who wants to document your vision and achievements, we can help you produce an inspiring legacy book.

The Process

We meet with you to discuss the scope of your envisioned book – the things you want covered and the voices to include. Once we understand what you would like to achieve, we prepare an estimate for your approval. This will include a timeline for completing the book, book scope and objectives, and a potential list of interviewees. We'll also confirm the review and approval process, and whether you want our help with design and printing.

We start by conducting interviews, reading archival materials, and doing any additional research required. We then prepare an outline for your approval.

We'll ask you to collect images that can be included in the book, and we can help you select appropriate images, if desired. If new images or photos are required, we can arrange for illustration or photography services. Along with writing the main narrative of the book, we can write photo descriptions/captions.

We complete the first draft of the book, sharing chapters with you as we go. While you and your team will likely review the book as it is written, we begin the revision process on our end after the entire first draft is complete. We include up to two rounds of revisions in our estimate.

If you want our help with design or printing, we do that after polishing the manuscript to final version and getting your approval.

What You Get

  • Interviews with team members, customers, or other stakeholders, as agreed to in the project scope. Transcripts and audio recordings are made available to you for your archives.

  • A complete book, starting with a first draft, and including up to two rounds of revisions to bring it to a final manuscript. The tone of the book will be consistent with your company's established voice.

  • If desired, we can assist with image selection and creation, do the book design, and coordinate print production.

What it Costs

As with all our projects, we price by scope. Corporate histories typically involve interviewing numerous people along with reviewing corporate and archival materials. We reflect this in our pricing. As well, if several people are involved in the review and revision process, we account for that. We will work within an approximate word or page count that is mutually agreed to prior to starting the project.

Pricing depends on final scope, but in general you can expect to pay anywhere from $25,000 to $75,000 CDN for a corporate history book.

Our services are billed monthly, with one installment paid up front as a deposit. In our experience, corporate history books can take several months or more to complete
